Welcome to 5 Quick Things that I saw since last month that I thought were interesting enough to share with you. None of them are particularly timely so feel free to just enjoy 🙂

It Reminded Me of A Past Experience

I’m sure most people have seen at least a little bit of the Olympics this year even if it was through Tiktok clips or other short form video. It’s been a pretty interesting Olympics for a number of reasons but the best one has been the drone footage which I first saw via the downhill skiing competition and it honestly changed my perspective of the whole sport which is extremely cool in general. It’s nice to know that tech can still do cool things also if you wanted to do that.

Patience and Attention (Part 7 Million)

We’re seeing a kind of a mini-renaissance of Web 1.0 lately and I think it’s related to this article. Even though this was written a full 8 years ago, I think it’s important to remember what was actually good and what worked about the web and why we made websites the way we did in the past. There’s a reason that Wikipedia remains useful to all people around the global and simplified, most text with little markup means it is accessible to almost everyone everywhere. Just a little thought for your thought pocket.
>Number Three<
Jam It
Not only do I like many of the mixes on Arwen Faith’s YouTube channel but this specific one is the intersection of two extremely cool things: it was recorded in Tallinn not far from my house and it’s a love letter to Sade – could it get any better?

Not That You Need Another Reason To Dislike Spotify (But Here’s One More)

AI Music is a big sticking point for some people for leaving Spotify but I left Spotify a long long time ago and I suspect I might have actually been bumping into the problem of “ghost artists” that this article is talking about which instantly repelled me. This article dove tails with all of the people around me lately who are starting to explain that AI isn’t exactly a one off it’s just the product of the system that was already in place for stripping people out of the making of art to replace it for the cheapest, most quickly produced minimally marketable item. Anyway, that’s kind of depressing.

It Simply Spits Us Out

I wanted to end this on a nice note so here’s a person making weird art that he hopes inspires you to also make weird art! The best type of weird art! I actually got extremely into pasta making during the beginning of the pandemic and I can tell you that it’s really easy and very fun but I also got extremely into photography at the same time so these pasta cameras are kind of the perfect thing for me. Should I give this a try?
That’s all for this month and hopefully I’ll see you back again next month with some more exciting and cool things!
