Welcome to 5 Quick Things that I saw since last month that I thought were interesting enough to share with you. None of them are particularly timely so feel free to just enjoy 🙂

You Can Be Better

I think this might be one of my favorite think pieces about the “male loneliness crisis”. I have to admit I was drawn in by the absolutely banger line and sentiment from Twin Peaks but it also isn’t lost on me that the loneliness crisis seems to be blamed on women or enemies of the state but the solution to loneliness is simply to go out and make connections which can be difficult but for most people in possible in some way. You can, in fact, decide to fix your heart.

Abandon Wear

As we are starting to see the wheels come off of AI and the Metaverse and some of these other tech projects which consisted of naked grift, shamelessness, and control, it is always interesting to watch the people who have used this tech to make connections get swept up in their closing. As a person who has been part of niche (and not so niche) communities that have been crushed by a simple thing like a server going down and an admin deciding not to pay a bill suddenly I find articles like this very relatable and even if I find connection via the Metaverse to be ridiculous, I just love that humans connect no matter what actually.

Start Here
I enjoy the channel The Strange Loop which features an Italian lady who has a degree in physics and honestly, in like 10 other things also and she brings her delightful and infectious energy to you if you want to learn too. I love it and this video is a great primer if you actually want to start learning about physics but don’t know where to start because it’s such a diverse topic.

Not That You Need Another Reason To Dislike Spotify (But Here’s One More)

I have been thinking about The Iliad lately. Weird but true. I had a long couple of years in my pre-teen and teens years where I got way too into epic poetry but not from a weird desire to hearkened back to some grand time but because I believe that humans have kind of always been like this and in understanding the ways which we dealt with it might help me with the future. Anyway I saw this piece dissecting a speech which basically rhetorically asks the audience why we struggle and I just really enjoyed it.

Like Minecraft But I’m Also Bad At It

Lastly here’s a little web browser…game? It’s basically a building map where you can place different shapes to build things. Personally I am terrible at this stuff because it’s all rotating objects and mapping things but I love that someone built it and I want as many people as possible to enjoy playing with it.
That’s all for this month and hopefully I’ll see you back again next month with some more exciting and cool things!
